In the mid-80s Science Applications International Corp started producing a video annual report. It’s a very innovative company in this was a lot more interesting than a glossy brochure full of statistics.
I started working on this annual project in 1986 and I did them every year until they stopped doing them in 2004. That’s a pretty good run.
The music had to be important, but not snooty. Energetic but smart. Short percussive sounds versus screaming guitars and with four letters in the company’s name it kind of had to have a four note motive.
It was tricky having the gig that long because you wanted to do something in the style that we had established, but you didn’t want it to sound like a rehash of the previous work.
